5 things you may not know about me

Rebecca, O.K. I'll do it. You tagged me June 25. I have been putting this off for over month. Everyone knows so much about me- I love travel, music, kids, family, etc.

If any of you don't know, I have some really annoying habits, like, talking too much, interrupting people, etc. I already hate how much I talk about myself. And talking only gets worse when I get nervous or hyper. So, anyone who knows me probably knows everything about me because I can't shut up sometimes. So I here by apologize for all the times I dominated conversations, interrupted you, or anything else. I really am working on it. Old habits die hard. Forgive me?

I'll understand if you don't finish reading- in fact, I will never know you didn't read it- it's a blog. :) Here goes.

O.N.E.- I drove myself to the hospital when I was in labor Corban . . . and Isabelle.

T.W.O.- My husband proposed to me in front of a big group of his friends, at a party that I helped organize as a "surprise" for him. I was clueless.

T.H.R.E.E.- I sang on an airplane. (everyone from HS choir already knows this)

F.O.U.R.- I love learning new things!
(Thank goodness for the Internet. I fixed my doorbell last year.) I want to get my motorcycle license. I would love to study cooking. Or become a nurse. Or become a master seamtress. Or finish certifying in Yoga. Or finish my music degree. I love school. One day I will go back. Maybe when both kids are in school.

F.I.V.E.- I rung and installed the pistons on a new Chevy 350 engine. I also helped put in the crank shaft. Ya, I'm pretty much amazing.

Marshmallow anyone?

We had such fun on Saturday. Dave came home early and we made a makeshift firepit in the backyard. We roasted hotdogs then marshmallows for s'mores. Corban and Isabelle LOVED it! I can't wait to buy a tent and camping gear and take them camping. I have such fond memories of different camping trips throughout my life.
The only down side- We got rained out. The weather turned fierce. It was a blessing in disguise because there was a fire up Provo Canyon. I am sure the firefighters were praising God. It was crazy how it went from a warm night to crazy wind and intense downpour- even a few street signs were knocked down.

A bunch of you have this on your blogs. So, I am finally following through with the re-posting instructions. You can leave a memory about me, Dave, Corban, Izzy, or all of us. It will be interesting to read what comes to mind.

Thanks. Here's how it works-

1. Add a comment on my blog leaving one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I can leave my memory of you in my comments.

Thank You!

I really enjoyed this movie. It was clean, it had a good message, and it was sweet.
Bonus, it has James McAvoy and Simon Woods.
You can't argue with that. (Well, Dave can.)

Sunday Thoughts

Yesterday I heard some wonderful thoughts that really got me thinking.

The first came from the most tender-hearted girl I have ever seen. She was the youth speaker for sacrament meeting. She was pleading with everyone to use clean language. I say pleading because that is the only way I can describe what took place. What an angel. She was trying so earnestly not to cry, with little success, but she left such an impression on me. Here is this new Beehive who loves the Gospel and testifies of God and Jesus and she speaks for almost ten minutes. It was like nothing I’ve ever seen. She did smile when she read this quote from her mother:

“Don't turn into a Bee, who kills himself by hurting others.”

The second thought I wanted to share came from another talk. I tried as best I could to write it down word for word.

“If we will not or should not participate in an act, why would we view it as entertainment? What makes it ok to watch? If it is a sin to do it ourselves why spend time, effort, or money for someone else to do it?”

The last thought came from our RS lesson. It was from the JS manual- ch 13- on Obedience. I had a thought that obedience is faith in action. It was a wonderful lesson and there were too many quotes to choose, but I will include this-

“When the Lord commands, do it.” (Joseph Smith)

Well, that is it. If you have anything to share I would love it!
Thanks! <3

This week in a nutshell . . .

David with the kids at Deer Creek. Thank You, Candice and Andy!

Last weekend they invited us to play on the wave runners.

I really love wave runners thanks to my dad- he used to take us out to Easy Canyon Res.

Isabelle likes motorized vehicles nearly as much as Corban. I took her out for a ride and she laid back like she does with Dave on the three-wheeler. She LOVES the water. Anytime we removed her from the lake she would squeal in protest. Dave is such a great Daddy! (I forgot my camera, but luckily I had my phone.)

Saturday- We also had fun at the birthday party for Jacob, Emily, and Keiti. Happy Birthday! I was self-conscious about parading around in my swimsuit trying to coax Corban (and Em and Cy) to go on the slide. It was an experience- I felt like Fezzick climbing the Cliffs of Insanity "I'm carrying three people . . . " It was entertaining to say the least.

I was shocked that Corban didn't want to play on the slide longer. He went two times and called it quits. Isabelle wanted to steal Keiti's new princess chair!

Sunday we went to Roy to celelbrate my dad's birthday- who happens to share July 5th with the others- (4 birthdays in one day, wow!) It was fun to watch dad play with the grandkids. I forgot my camera (again). Oops.

I love you Daddy! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Dave and I went to Range Masters to shoot targets Tuesday night. It was great fun. I haven't dealt much with guns in the past, but must admit I was pretty much amazing. Dave was only ok. What can I say? I am just a better marksman.

Oh, I wish that were true. I did ok for my 1st visit, and now I have my own gun I won't have to rent anymore. Dave surprised me with the Springfield 9mm Sub-Compact 3" XD pistol.

Now I can totally protect my family from the attic man! I love this gun because of all the safety features and it has less kick than the .40. It was actually fun to go shoot, and I figure if there are going to be guns in my house then I need to be comfortable with them and familiar with using them. (Yes, we have a gun safe. That is very necessary.) I am glad that Dave convinced me to take the Concealed weapons class. It taught me so much. I used to be extremely anti-gun. I think I was afraid of them. Anyway, I don't need to waste this post explaining my change of mind. They are fine for protection and if someone wants to be a hunter that is fine- No hunting for me though.

Wednesday the kids and I went to Clearfield to visit my grandparents and stay with Grandma while Grandpa went on a few errands with my mom. Grandma Velma was so good with Isabelle. She was gentle and sweet with her even when Izzy was crying.

While I was driving home I decided to take a short detour and check out or former home in Clinton. (plus, I wanted to see the Vellinga house after I had that dream their house was different- but that is another crazy story.)

Mom, Dad, Rebecca, and Lindsay- for your viewing pleasure, here is our first home (with a few minor updates) -

Well, that is our week so far, and this post is far too long.

I have been sick most the week, and the house is in s l o w recovery. It isn't terrible, just more clutter than usual. So, no, you can't come over. Sorry, I would be embarrassed.

Have a great week! <3

Dinosaur Exhibition

Today Grandma Nina, Grandpa Dale, and Grandma Velma met us at the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point.

It always surprises me when Corban is afraid of something. He coerced Grandma Nina into holding him on and off in the darkened rooms. I don't think she minds when a grandchild is "ccared" (scared) and wants to be huggy.

Isabelle was pointing to everything and babbling endlessly. Isabelle is becoming quite the singer. In the car we sing primary songs and such, and she has started to join Corban and me- though the words are indistinct, you can tell she is singing.

Swimming Couisns

Thank you Badgers for letting us invade your backyard yesterday.
We all had loads of fun!

(Just a little B and E)

Emily showing me her 3 missing teeth.

Isabelle kept trying to convince me (by pushing my arms away) that if I let her go she would not drown. Very funny, Izzy, I am not convinced. She sure loves the water. Last week when we went to the pool with Carter and Alayna she kept trying to jump into the deep end.

After Corban had enough of the pool rules and his selective hearing kicked in we played on the swings for a bit.

Random Pictures

I love this picture of Izzy. We were at the park last night and she was fearless- fearlessly careful. She was cautious, but even went down the big slide alone. She LOVES to be independant and crawl up and down the playground equipment. She is getting so big.
