Happy (early) Anniversary!

Last weekend Dave and I had the opportunity to rendezvous in St George without children! David's parents, "bless their hearts," (Connie, I thought you would enjoy that expression) watched the kids. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We have our five year anniversary coming up in a week and we didn't think we would get another chance to get away, so we escaped for the weekend. The weather was wonderful!

It was strange to be able to come and go from our hotel with such ease- no diaper bags, car seats, crying, etc. Ok, maybe there was a little crying, but overall I was almost giddy the first day. I kept telling Dave that we didn't have our children with us, which obviously he knew, but I was just . . . I don't know, It was nice to spend a few days together. We had a great time- it has been ages since we have even gone on a "date"- so we were interested to see if we could get along the 3 days. Amazingly enough, we survived without a tiff. We were able to sit, and even listen mind you, through all of church.

We visited the church history sites. In the visitor's center they have a collection of sculptures by Angela Johnson. Her story of how she came to sculpt is interesting. We toured Brigham Young's winter home, and guess who gave us the tour . . . no guesses? Mr Siddoway from Roy Jr High.

Then at the Jacob Hamblin home our tour guide was one my uncle Jeff's teachers at Clearfield High. We also visited the Mountain Meadow Massacre site which has been getting more attention this year. Brother Siddoway said the church is coming out with a book soon about the events. It was a solemn place.

We ate out a few meals (some good, some not so good), relaxed by the pool, and even went to see the new Indiana Jones movie. The weekend raced by and soon it was time for the drive home. I wanted to go see my family (Paul & Janet and the girls) but we ran out of time. :(

On the drive home we stopped for lunch in Beaver to see Grandma and Grandpa Langston. It was fun to visit. I loved walking around the house when we got home and having Corban yell "mommy!" but then he wouldn't hug me. Adalyn did. :) We missed the kids, but are glad we had a little alone time.

Thank you so much for taking me Dave! I love you!

Corban had his last day of school yesterday. Last week they held a graduation/celebration where Corban was awarded the title of "most energetic"- surprise, surprise. Isabelle quickly grew tired of the ceremony, as you can see from her picture.

Isabelle is so DANG cute! She is a parrot lately, mimicking so many words. Last week I taught her how to sign apple, and today while I was making lunch she looked up from her high chair and said apple and signed it! Her finger was pointed instead of bent so it looked like she was signing candy, but I don't care. It was so exciting to see that she wants to communicate and she is trying. Man, I love my kids.

Dave sneezed during breakfast and Izzy said "A-Choo" back to him.
She signs and says milk.
She signs "more" all the time- and she has started using it for more than food requests. :)
She signs and says cheese. While I was taking her picture a few days ago I kept saying "cheese" and she kept repeating it. Oh, it was so cute.
Everyday she says something new.

It is so fun to watch my kids reach new milestones. It is strange how it feels like yesterday that I was kid-less and at the same time I feel like I have been a mom forever. I am so grateful that we have the blessing and knowledge that we will be a family forever. I am so grateful for my family and how much I have learned the past 5 years. I pray I am teaching my children well and showing them the love and discipline they need. Parenting is such a hard job
(So all you parents out there Good Job! GREAT JOB! We don't always hear it but someone needs to say it.) We all have our good and bad days. There are days when I feel failure and there are days when I'm sure I am "the best mom ever." It is amazing the range of emotions you feel as a parent: proud, scared, happy, loving, frustrated, disappointed, content, blissful, worried, etc. I am so grateful for my parents- it is only after having children that I realize how much they did for me. I love you Mom and Dad! Thank you.

Camera Crazy

I just thought I would post some pictures from the week. I love being a MOMMY!

Do you like our new hair? Jill did Izzy's hair in pigtails and I LOVE it!

You Belong in 1953

You're fun loving, romantic, and more than a little innocent. See you at the drive in!

(Thanks Jess!)

Happy Mother's Day!

What better way to spend Mother's day than with your husband and kids! We had such fun at Grandma and Grandpa Langston's. We were able to talk to Jeanette and the kids had a blast in the backyard. Excuse all the pictures, but there were too many to choose from. Dave surprised me with a camera for mommy's day! I was shocked. What a sweet husband!

Babysitter in a Box

Can you believe there exists a toy that would keep Corban's interest for half the day? The kids have LOVED playing on this bouncer. Thank you so much Daniel! The Boys went to the store Saturday and came home with Corban and the big box in tow. The neighbor kids are a little more friendly these days. The stop at the fence to say hello. And a few have enjoyed a bounce or 30. Luckily the age limit is 8- which convinces the older kids not to pester me for their turn. All the extra company is worth it when I don't have to chase Corban down the street 10 times a day. He has loved having friends over. Any bets on how long it will last before it pops?

Ok-I will admit it- I am a total dork, but I thought I would post the trailer for Twilight- But I know there are a at least few out there that will appreciate it. (Rebecca especially)
There is so much hype over this movie- I hope it doesn't end up disappointing.

Little Pig, Little Pig Let Me In!

The kids love playing Three Little Pigs in their Ikea tent. They hide inside and I come along as the Big Bad Wolf. We do the whole script:

"Little Pig, Little Pig Let me in!"

"Not by the hair of my chinny, chin, chin."

"Then I'll Huff and I'll Puff and I'll blow your house in!"

Then I shake the tent until Corban opens the door laughing. Then we take turns being the wolf. They will play over and over and over and over!

Isabelle and Corban love to be outside and often throw fits as I drag them inside at the end of the afternoon! Isabelle loves her independence and is more steady every day! She loves to follow the kids around the neighborhood! It is fun to watch the kids play with the neighbor kids- even though they are much younger than most of them. They are trying to be social already. :) I think we are going to have to invest in some outdoor play equipment. Corban is always sneaking across the street to the neighbor's swings. He needs something he can swing on, climb all over and/or slide down. Any suggestions? We can't spend a lot- but he needs something so I don't have to chase him down the road. He is so fast!

(Corban helped take this picture!)

I am so grateful for my family! I am so lucky that I get to be home all day. It is work. Somedays are easier than others. But I would not trade it for the world. I love moments when my kids want to just sit on my lap and cuddle, or when they hand me a book, or run up and give me a hug or a kiss! They can be so sweet and so crazy! I am so blessed!
