Up, Up, and AWAY!

video

Yesterday, I was checking on dinner upstairs then proceed to go downstairs until a tiny blue eyed beauty stopped me in my tracks. She was sitting by the front door. This is alarming because we live in a split level entry house- she had scaled the bottom half and was smiling up at me before she made a start up the rest of the stairs. She is a quick little climber (as you can see). The video is her 4th time up the stairs. She sure caught on fast! Now I have to shut the door if we are in the basement (for safety sake) and she cries and arches her back to tell me what a rude gesture this is toward her. She would climb them all day if you let her- today I put her back at the bottom 3 times consecutively and she just climbed to the top each time with a huge smile of satisfaction on her face!

Anniversary of Ghandi's Death

Sixty years ago, 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated on January 30 while walking to a prayer meeting.

I just wanted to post a few of my favorite quotes.

"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind"

“A man is but the product of his thoughts what he thinks, he becomes.”

Our Sweet Prophet

SALT LAKE CITY 27 January 2008

President Gordon B. Hinckley, who led The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through twelve years of global expansion, has died at the age of 97.
President Hinckley was the 15th president in the 177-year history of the Church and had served as its president since 12 March 1995. The Church president died at his apartment in downtown Salt Lake City at 7:00 p.m. Sunday night from causes incident to age. Members of his family were at his bedside. A successor is not expected to be formally chosen by the Church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles until after President Hinckley’s funeral within the next few days.
How happy he must be with his wife. He was so amazing. He was so influencial to me, to all of us. We "grew up" with him at our side. I am so grateful for his guidance and love. He showed so much love to the world. He lead the building and dedicating of so many temples. Just looking at his face brings a smile to mine. How blessed we were to have him as our Prophet. It is hard to express in words how important he has been in my life- I love that man! May we all remember all he had done for us. Nothing I say will do justice, I am just so very grateful for him. He helped solidify my testimony of the saviour, I will always remember him as "my" prophet.

Mom's everywhere (parents . . . or anyone else) read this!

"I auctioned off a dirty old, used baseball on Ebay. My auction attracted the attention of over 220,000 people and I ended up selling the ball for $1125.00! And, best of all, I received emails from thousands of people telling me that I should write a book about parenting."- Dawn
This is the story behind the "dirty old, used baseball." Click this link: http://mom2my6pack.blogspot.com/2007/06/welcome.html
This is such a funny story. It is a bit long, but it's a laugh!

bowling fun

(pics are with my camera phone-hence their quality)
Candice and Andy invited us to go bowling last weekend. Corban loved it! Thank you Badgers!

Family Updates

Isabelle is getting stronger. She loves to pull herself up and stand. She is getting more independent. She also tends to express her frustrations with a scream or squeal when I try to redirect her to activities that are more safe. She is growing so fast. She has 6 teeth now and a strong jaw! (Do not put your finger into her mouth.) She also just leanned how to click her tongue. It is very cute when she crawls about clicking it and smiling. :)

Corban still insists he doesn't need a nap- but by 5 o'clock he isn't in a very good mood, or he has fallen asleep somewhere. :) He is talking better and more people can understand him. He is still not "on his best behaviour" most days, but he is learning. He starts a class tomorrow, and we will see if that helps him interact with other kids.

Dave is working hard, as usual, and his beard grows longer everyday . . . He doesn't like the camera, but I will post a picture when I can, so you can see the beard in it's "glory."
I got a sewing machine for christmas and am happy to report how much fun I am having with it. I have made a bag (for Adalyn), a skirt and a pair of PJ pants! I hope to get good enough so I can sew my own temple dress- in time- I know I am a long way off!

After living in this house for over 2 years we finally have some curtains in our front room! I am so excited. I love how it dresses up the room. My mom had some great advice on the treatment. Thanks mom (she picked out the rod, too!)

Dave at Work

I posted some of this on my friends blog, but I wanted to share some here as well.
Here are just a few examples of Dave's work. He and Daniel make a great team- their talents compliment each other. At least I think so.

Where did it come from?

Corban and I spent a few hours outside today. What a crazy storm. Dave shoveled in the morning and I had to shovel twice; once when I thought the snow had stopped, and once when the snow actually stopped. :)
Corban loved it so much that tonight he snuck to the entry way and put on my loafers to attempt an escape in his jammies into the "no-ing" (snow- he calls it snowing.)
Once the snow stopped falling, it was a beautiful afternoon.
The sun shone brilliant and the snow so bright, it was a sight to see.

Dave's New Project(s)

This is one in a series of cars that Dave will be working on.

Looks like a lot of work to me.

MONSTER TRUCKS!

Dave took Corban to the Monster Truck Show in SLC last friday. Corban was totally crazy! He loved it so much! He was climbing, jumping, yelling, sliding, running, etc. I think they had a great time with Colby and Malia. Corban came home asking " Dad, 'gain truck?" and saying Colby and Malia. What a fun Father/Son activity!
